Man Utd are Carling Cup 2010 Champions
The first English cup competition was decided yesterday as the introduction of Wayne Rooney led to Manchester United turning round an early 1-0 deficit to lift the 2010 Carling Cup by defeating Aston Villa 2-1.
Rooney scored the winner with an excellent header into the top corner from a pinpoint Valencia cross, after he was brought on to replace the injured Michael Owen in the first half. Owen had scored early to cancel out James Milner’s fifth minute penalty, before getting injured in the 42nd minute of the final, which took place at a packed Wembley Stadium.
