Belgium v Spain 15/10/2008 Highlights

Belgium took on Spain last night in Group 5 of the UEFA section of World Cup 2010 Qualifying, and Spain ran out 2-1 winners – a result which many consider fortuitous after Belgium looked to have done enough to secure a much needed point.

Belgium opened the scoring after 7 minutes through Sonck. Iniesta levelled on 37 for Spain with a beautifully taken goal and David Villa stole the points for the Spanish with two minutes of normal time remaining.

Fernando Torres, currently enjoying excellent form with Liverpool, worried Reds’ staff and fans alike when limping off after just 16 minutes of play, to another suspected hamstring injury, leading Rafa Benitez to yet again question the demands placed upon international players. See this BBC article for more details on Torres’ injury and Benitez’ reaction.
